Pontiac Theatre IV proudly presented “Young Jane Eyre.” Directed by John Tonner, Jane Eyre is one of literature’s most compelling heroines. This drama focuses on her difficult youth as an orphan left with uncaring relatives who eventually send her to Lowood, a poor boarding school run by Mr. Brocklehurst. He imposes an overbearing morality while doing nothing about the terrible conditions that take a horrible toll on some but build a strength and deep conviction in young Jane. Her experience is ultimately one of triumph and prepares her for her future as a governess. She forms lifelong friendships, including one with the tragic Helen Burns and the inspiring teacher, Miss Temple. |
